FinAI ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered expense tracking app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how FinAI handles your information.
By using FinAI, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described in this policy.
On-Device Storage — Your Data Stays With You
All data you enter into FinAI is stored exclusively on your device using iOS local storage. This includes:
- Your expense and income transactions
- Bank account names and balances you enter
- Monthly bills and recurring transactions
- Salary and income records
- Categories, notes, and analytics
- App settings and preferences
FinAI requires no login or account of any kind. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.
AI Processing
When you type a transaction in natural language (for example, "Uber to office 1200"), that text is sent to the OpenAI API to extract structured data — merchant, amount, category, and date. This is the only data that ever leaves your device.
- Only the transaction text you type is sent — no other app data is included in the request
- We do not store this text on any server or database
- The extracted result is returned directly to your device and stored locally
- OpenAI processes API inputs under a data processing agreement that restricts use of API data for model training
OpenAI's handling of API data is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions
FinAI uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and validate purchases made through the Apple App Store.
- RevenueCat receives your App Store subscription status to confirm your plan tier
- RevenueCat does not receive your financial data or any transaction content
- All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your payment details
- RevenueCat's data practices are governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
No Tracking, No Analytics, No Ads
FinAI contains no advertising, behavioural tracking, or analytics SDKs. We do not:
- Track your usage behaviour or in-app actions
- Share any data with advertisers or marketing platforms
- Use third-party analytics tools such as Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar services
- Serve advertisements of any kind
- Build any profile about you
Children's Privacy
FinAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because we collect no personal data and require no account, there is minimal privacy risk. If you are a parent or guardian with concerns, please contact us using the details below.
Your Rights & Data Control
Because all your data is stored on your device, you are in complete control at all times:
- Access: Your data is always accessible directly within the app
- Export: Use the CSV export in Settings to export all your transactions
- Deletion: Delete individual transactions within the app, or delete all data permanently by uninstalling the app
Because we hold no data on any server, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. Your device is the sole source of truth.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
